The UAE Singapore Business Council, in collaboration with the UAE Embassy in Singapore and the Fujairah Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FUJCCI), organised our Oil, Petrochemical and Logistics (OPL) annual flagship event on Wednesday, 18th August 2021. The OPL sector represents the most important component of the UAE economy as the country has the seventh largest proven oil and natural gas reserves in the world and is the fourth largest producer of petroleum liquids in OPEC (4 million barrels of oil exports per day).
The organisers were honoured to host Singapore Minister of State for Trade & Industry, Ms Low Yen Ling, as the Guest of Honour for the event, along with the UAE Ambassador to Singapore and the UAESBC Patron: His Excellency Jamal AL Suwaidi and the Director-General of Fujairah Chamber, His Excellency Sultan Al Hendaasi.
In her Opening Address, MOS Low Yen Ling stressed that amidst uncertainties due to COVID-19, it is all the more critical for Singapore to strengthen our collaborations with like-minded countries such as the UAE. She also shared that seeing the line-up of representatives of UAE companies who have a big presence in Singapore such as ADNOC Group, Borouge and ENOC, brought fond memories of her tenure at the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB) when she had engaged with and visited the HQs of these companies on her official trips to the UAE.
The event also featured distinguished line-up of speakers representing key industry leaders namely, ADNOC, Borouge, ENOC, First Abu Dhabi Bank (FAB) and Horizon Terminals. In addition, exclusively for this year, the event had a special focus on the Fujairah Oil Industry Zone (FOIZ) and presenters representing FOIZ as well as Singapore companies who have presence in Fujairah.
The event was viewed by more than 100 attendees and was reported by Channel NewsAsia in their Singapore Tonight 10pm bulletin where our Guest of Honour, Minister of State for Trade & Industry Ms Low Yen Ling and UAESBC President, Dr Brian Shegar were featured.
The largest Chinese-language newspaper in Singapore, Lianhe Zaobao, also published a news article about the event on Page 23 of its 19th August issue, you can view the online version of the article HERE (Subscription required to view full article).
